Position Summary

The CNC Plasma Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC plasma cutting equipment to accurately cut metal materials according to engineering drawings, and production schedules. This position ensures quality standards, maintains equipment, and supports a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC plasma cutting machines to cut steel, stainless steel, and other materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, nesting layouts, and work orders.
  • Load raw materials onto cutting tables using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment.
  • Verify machine settings, cutting parameters, and material specifications before operation.
  • Monitor machine performance and adjust to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Inspect completed parts to ensure compliance with dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of CNC plasma equipment.
  • Remove slag, burrs, and scrap material as required.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience operating CNC plasma cutting equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and manufacturing practices.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC controls and nesting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.
  • Must be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

Manufacturing and fabrication facility environment requiring adherence to all safety regulations and quality standards. Overtime and shift work may be required based on production demands.
