Manny Romero

Director of Compliance

Manny joined SAC in 2011 and leads our Quality Control Department as Director of
Compliance. He brings over 28 years of experience to SAC in contract manufacturing and an
instrumental understanding of our QAQC processes.

Manny is responsible for ensuring adherence to our QMS protocol while supporting QC team
members with the resources they need to deliver superior products. As our former Senior
Field Specialist, Manny has a wealth of experience on-site performing inspections and
generating reporting and documentation for client assurance. He is passionate about our
company culture and supporting our teams to produce quality products.

Manny is a United States Navy veteran who served for six years. He enjoys traveling with his
wife, Kristina. Manny enjoys outdoor activities in his spare time, including hunting, shooting,
archery, riding quads, and hiking.

Brent D. Openshaw, CPA

Controller

Brent joined SAC as the Controller in September 2022. In the role of Controller, he provides executives with timely and accurate financial statements, prepares budgets and monitors job costing, oversees the accounting operations, as well as design and maintenance of the financial reporting processes and structures.

Brent graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting with a minor in Business Administration. Brent has over thirty years of experience in the construction field. He started his career in construction accounting in a public accounting firm that specialized in Construction and Contractors. During his eleven years with the firm, he worked his way up from staff accountant to a partner and was responsible for much of the firm’s on site audit and accounting direct supervision. He also assisted clients in financial statement presentations, income tax planning and general management. He later moved on to controller and CFO positions at other construction companies before joining SAC.

Brent has participated in several associations over the years and has served as Treasurer and a board member of the Associated Builders and Contractors- Utah Chapter, as well as Treasurer for the Utah Association of Health Underwriters. He is currently serving on the National Education Committee of the Construction Financial Management Association.

He enjoys outdoor activities, hiking, fishing, riding motorcycles, spending time with the family and reading good books.

Kelly Smith

Director of Estimating

Kelly joined SAC in mid-2018 bringing nearly 20 years of drafting experience and a decade of estimating. As the Director of Estimating at SAC, Kelly is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the estimating department. She is responsible for assigning and directing workloads accordingly and planning for upcoming bids.

Kelly holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting & Design from PSU, and has worked in the construction industry for over a decade. Early on she has worked on projects such as Lake Hodges Pump Station, Alvarado WTP PH 2, and Alvarado WTP – Ozone Facilities as a project engineer. In the latter part of her career, she has estimated various Water Infrastructure projects as well as several mining projects. In Kelly’s time away from work, she enjoys traveling abroad, which she believes can provide skills and experience not just personally but professionally.

Courtney Hale

Director of People and Culture

Courtney joined SAC in 2016 with a decade of marketing and event management experience. As Director of People and Culture, she utilizes a diverse set of communication channels to convey SAC’s internal and external messages, ensuring that our company’s vision is delivered consistently and engagingly. She works to develop and implement a transparent communications platform where team members, clients and partners can communicate, understand and embrace our shared value-focused mission. Our People & Culture Department encompasses Communications, Human Resources, Safety, and Marketing.

Courtney holds a BA in Psychology from Saint Michael’s College and a passion for wellness. She strives to promote a progressive environment at SAC, and supports team members to think positively, work passionately, and share in her enthusiasm for learning and development.

Jen Lee

Director of Financial Planning and Analysis

Jen joined SAC in mid-2015 as part of our Accounting Department and was responsible for establishing many of the processes that continue to guide our Accounting team today. She took on the role of Director of Financial Planning & Analysis in 2022 to support the growth of our internal teams. In her new role, Jen leads her team to create the tools that allow us to measure our performance and plan our future. A key focus is on training the rest of our management team to understand and interpret the data available to them and then make effective business decisions. Beyond her immediate responsibilities, Jen has been instrumental in creating an environment that allows each member of our team to reach their potential. Her passion for excellence is contagious and has been an example to other leaders on our team.

Jen holds a BS in Business Administration from SUNY Plattsburgh. She has worked in the Accounting world for over a decade and knows the importance of consistent, accurate data collection and analysis. Jen’s efforts continue to help our team connect the dots to understand the impact their daily activities have on our financial performance as a company. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her young family.

Mark Miller

Director of Fabrication Services

 
Mark joined SAC in 2023 with over 20 years as an engineering professional in operations. As the Director of Fabrication Services, Mark is responsible for leading the Fabrication team in developing process and systems that allow us to meet and exceed customer and business results in safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Mark holds a BS from Weber State University in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and is also a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt through ASQ.

Erik Beal

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Erik is responsible for financial analysis & forecasting.  His extensive background in financial markets and risk management help SAC navigate the challenges and opportunities in front of it.  He works closely with leaders across the firm to help ensure that each of our business decisions contributes to our financial success.

Erik holds a BA from Middlebury College.  He began his career in financial services, working as a trader and portfolio manager in New York, London & Minneapolis.  Recently, he has worked in the construction industry – first as CFO of a regional industrial real estate developer, and now as the Director of Finance for SAC.

Bill Russ

Senior Business Process Manager

As Senior Business Process Manager, Bill works to improve the integration of SAC business processes. He works closely with all teams to help map existing processes, identify areas of improvement, and strategize ways to promote a better understanding of how our teams can work more efficiently and effectively throughout the company.

Some of his core responsibilities include promoting value-added work concepts, understanding, and documenting all SAC processes for use in cross-functional and cross-group education, and communicating process goals and interdepartmental dependencies to drive improvement.

Bill has an extensive background in quality control, continuous improvement, change management, and Lean Manufacturing. He has a professional passion for anticipating and ensuring a smooth project workflow, and approaches projects with an emphasis on efficiency. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Vermont.

Scott Padgette

Senior Fabrication Manager

Scott joined SAC in 2016 after having spent six years in the Facility Maintenance Field. He holds a range of maintenance accreditations, such as HVAC and CPO certifications. His first role at SAC was on our inventory team.

Today, as Senior Fabrication Manager, Scott handles all communication and movement through our fabrication facility, from release to coatings of our pipe supports, piping and misc. metals. He works in tandem with our Client Services and Fabrication Departments to communicate shipping statuses for our clients. He leads our Fabrication Finishing Team to ensure our products are shipped and delivered on time and in excellent condition, with easy on-site assembly. Scott is also responsible for managing our truck schedules, packaging, finishing, and coating.

Scott adopts a critical-thinking approach to projects and enjoys working cross-departmentally to solve problems and create more efficient workflows.

Rodney Padgette

Director of Procurement

Rodney joined SAC in 2013 with nearly 40 years of purchasing and management experience. As Director of Procurement, Rodney is responsible for developing a strategic approach to SAC’s procurement and material management process for the purchase of materials and equipment. He works closely with our vendors and suppliers to ensure our purchasing and receiving processes run smoothly.

Rodney received a Building Construction Certificate from Salt Lake Community college and has extensive knowledge of the raw building material (SST, carbon steel, etc.) markets. He has a professional passion for budget and cost management, vendor relations, and supporting our people and culture. Outside the office, Rodney can be found spending time with family and woodworking.

Korben Stubbs

Senior Strut Specialties Manager

As Senior Strut Specialties Manager, Korben leads our team focused on delivering strut assemblies and custom strut configurations to the semi-conductor group. He brings nearly a decade of experience to our shop floor, with a thorough understanding of our shop capabilities, stages of our fabrication process, and equipment. Some of his core responsibilities include reviewing shop drawings, planning for workflow and material needs, and working closely with our Client Services team to plan for upcoming bids.

Korben approaches projects with a creative, problem-solving focus. He enjoys building relationships with our team to better support the project life cycle and finding ways to create a more efficient workflow throughout the shop.

Elias Ponce

Director of Virtual Design & Construction

Elias joined SAC after having worked in the Construction Field for 21 years, beginning as a TIG welding laborer, to pipefitter, to detailer, then drafter. Elias brings extensive BIM experience to SAC and was originally brought on board to manage our BIM team.

Today, as Director of Virtual Design & Construction, Elias oversees the implementation of advanced technologies across SAC and consults in the development of VDC standards and processes. Some of his responsibilities include developing appropriate technical solutions to critical challenges, managing, and deploying Design Services software and hardware, and providing support for all VDC initiatives.

Elias strives to support our Mission and Shared Values in his work. He has a personal passion for leading our team members and supporting their growth through strategic training opportunities. Outside of work, Elias enjoys spending time with his family and making music.

Matt Holopirek

Vice President of Business Development

As Vice President of Business Development, Matt develops and leads our strategic business growth initiatives. He oversees both Estimating and Sales in building successful partnerships that drive our mission to “Create value for our clients our partners and ourselves,” and works closely with our Construction Services and Fabrication departments to make sure our project roadmaps and execution exceed our clients’ expectations.

Matt holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University and over 16 years of project management and business development experience with two of the nation’s largest construction firms. He has played a key role in 24 alternative delivery projects with over $2.2 billion in value.

Matt joined SAC in 2020 after previously building a relationship with our team as a client. He brings a thorough understanding of the contractor’s perspective and is passionate about building long-term business relationships. Through clear communication, understanding and fulfillment of client needs, he strives to develop partnerships of mutual trust and respect.
